What is Obedience and Rally?

AKC Obedience is a sport with rules, regulations, judges, conditioning, training, placements and prizes.  Dog and handler teams are judged on how closely they match the judge’s mental picture of a theoretically perfect performance as they execute a series of specified exercises.

Rally is a sport in which the dog and handler complete a course that has been designed by the rally judge. The judge tells the handler to begin, and the dog and handler proceed at their own pace through a course of designated stations (10 - 20, depending on the level). Each of these stations has a sign providing instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed. Scoring is not as rigorous as traditional obedience.

Puppy Manners Classes

A Fun and Educational Experience.

Let's get your puppy off to a good start! Our puppy classes are now participating in the A.K.C. S.T.A.R Puppy Training Program.  STAR stands for Socialization, Training, Activity and Responsibility.  All puppies are eligible.  You will be attending class taught by an AKC Approved CGC Evaluator.  At the end of the eight weeks, the instructor will administer the A.K.C. S.T.A.R. Puppy test.  More information will be given to you by the instructor the first night of classes.

In the Puppy Manners class, you will learn how to effectively communicate with your puppy and form a life long bond.  This class will help you and your puppy get off on the right food for respectful and fun household living.

The Puppy Manners class is broken out into two parts.  Junior Puppy class and Senior Puppy class.  Puppies two to four months old are in the Junior Puppy class and puppies between four to six months old are in the Senior Puppy class.

The first night of Puppy Class is an orientation for the owners only.  Please do not bring your puppies to the first night of class.

Basic Manners Classes

A Happy Dog means a Happy Home!

Basic Manners class will help you further develop you and your dog in basic manners and obedience skills necessary for your dog to live respectfully within your house and the community.

This class is for dogs approx 5 months old and older.  This is also a great place to start with a newly adopted or re-homed dog to help you bond with your new companion.

The first night of Basic Manners class is an orientation for the owners only.  Please do not bring your dog with you on the first night of class.

Advanced Manners Classes

Your Next Goal...

Advanced Manners class is designed to be the next level of training for our Puppy Manners class graduates and those returning to Basic Manners.  The class will challenge existing obedience skills, help you problem solve training habits and strive to develop better focus from the dogs.  New lessons will also be introduced.

Canine Good Citizen Class (CGC)

CGC is a class to help you and your dog prepare to take the American Kennel Club's CGC test on the last night of class. There are 10 stations where you and your dog perform the tasks required. This is an advanced class and requires instructor approval to sign up. For more info on the test please visit AKC.org
