About Maria Weber

Involved with TDI since 2013 and an evaluator since 2018, Maria has administered tests and workshops all over the northern Illinois and northern Indiana area.

Maria’s involvement with therapy dogs began after seeing the joy they brought to her mother-in-law who was hospitalized for 4 weeks while fighting colon cancer. The dogs were the only thing that brought a smile to her face.

Comet, Maria’s Siberian husky, was a therapy dog at Silver Cross Hospital for 10 years until they recently moved to Gurnee, IL. She also does visits at various assisted living facilities.

Outside of therapy dogs, Maria is active in dog sports with both her dogs competing in obedience, rally, FastCAT, agility, and nose work.

Maria has taught rally, obedience, nose work, and beginner agility. She also ran a free dog sports club for kids ages 8 - 17 for many years as a community service to introduce kids to the world of dog sports.

Her husky Comet was the first Siberian husky to earn a RACH, RM2, 3, 4 &5 and was also the first to earn the AKC Elite Tricks title (dancing with your dog).

Not only is Maria a TDI instructor and evaluator, but she is also a CGC, Trick Dog, ATT, Fetch Dog and ACT evaluator for the AKC.
