Nosework is a dog driven sport that mimics the job of working detection dogs. It provides the dog with physical activity and mental stimulation while building the dog's confidence.

The dogs will be introduced to the concept of searching for a target odor. We start with simple searches for food while the dog learns the rules of the new "game". Target odors, such as birch and clove are introduce later as the team progresses.

The handler learns the rules of nose work and how to read your dog's cues when he has detected the desired odor. In nose work, the dog and handler must learn to communicate successfully, while also learning to maneuver through the search area as skillfully as possible.

Nosework allows the dog to be a dog by encouraging him to do what most dogs naturally love to do, sniff!

Upcoming Class Dates: October 23 - December 18 (no class on November 27)
